Now we have the site up and running I intend to use this blog to keep members up to date with Pictures of Sheffield old and new's activities. Much hard work has gone into this project and its great to see it growing and gaining a larger audience. In 2008 I formed the facebook group and added a few of my snap shots, its hard to belive that we now have close to 4000 images and over 2000 members.
Jim Lambert and I continue to work on the forthcoming public display. We have started to get some of the pictures printed and framed, so far we have 65 images printed. As most of you are proberly aware the display opens on 25/01/10. We would like people to help us put the pictures on the walls, you can contact us via the contact page on this site if you want to be involved. We are still accepting pictures for the display, if you have any you can email them to us, or send us prints. Thanks to those people who are helping us, we hope to make the display a succcess, its the least we can do to show our appreciation for all the great pictures that we have recieved!
On Friday 8th Jan, we are having a fundraising event at the Harlequin Pub in Sheffield (full details are on the Facebook page). We hope to raise some money that will allow us to purchase better quality frames and maybe have some images put onto canvas. Hopefully the weather will not stop this event. It may be cold but come and join us for a drink and some great live music!
